A symbolic reminder
to overcome karma
and rebirth in one
of the 6 samsaric
realms: the 3
upper realms of gods,
titans and humans
and the 3 lower ones
of animals, ghosts
and hellbeings.
The main reason of
beeing bound to
karma is 'not
understanding'.
The 3 additional
reasons are:
dumpness, greed and
pride, symbolized by
the 3 animals: pig,
snake and cock (in
the centre of the
wheel). Yama, the god
of death is holding
this wheel of rebirth.
